Please Don’t Call Me Different

Please don’t call me different,
To me I am just me.
In this world, full of love,
I’m just a child running free.

Please don’t call me different,
I’m just a kid like you.
I love to sing and dance and play,
And do the things you do.

I might not sound the same as you,
I communicate with my hands.
But please don’t call me different,
Talking this way helps me understand.

Sometimes I need some extra help,
Some things I find quite hard.
But please don’t call me different,
Or treat me with disregard.

So when you see me, don’t stop and stare,
Or turn and walk away.
Please don’t call me different,
Simply stay so we can play.
